A second consecutive year of lecturing on Sustainable Design and Construction is in the cards for David Premi. He has been invited to return to Mohawk College to deliver the core course in the Winter Tern of 2008. “The course gives a general understanding of the challenges presented to Humanity by both global warming and peak oil” explains Premi. “The role of the building industry is then examined, and studies in what we can and must do as members of the industry.”
The course will be delivered to Third Year (graduating) Students in the Architectural Technology Program.
Some of Premi’s students from last year have already contacted him to announce that they have achieved official LEED Certification with the Canada Green Building Council. “It’s gratifying to discover that my efforts are manifesting themselves in tangible results.” says Premi. “Students become very excited about the subject matter, and are genuinely enthused. Sustainability provides a new lens through which the industry can be viewed. It adds a layer of meaning to everything we do as design professionals.”
