The Tin House uses the symbolic values of the materials and forms to express an inherent contradiction between permanence and transience.  The iconic pitched roof shape of the house is cast from tin which is thought to be a cheap and impermanent building material. The weight of the solid cast tin is juxtaposed against the fragility of the feather nest symbolizing the transient comfort of an impermanent home.
