Year: 2002
Budget: $14.3 million Project Architect: David Premi Architect of Record: RDH Architects with Lett Architects The two storey addition to the existing 4 storey Eric Palin Hall includes seven state-of-the-art
electronic classrooms, a computer lab, and a video conferencing classroom. Due to the nature of the existing facilities, the building remained operational throughout construction. As a result of two highly consultative process, very little disruption to the existing area occurred, despite the entire replacement of mechanical and fire alarm systems throughout the building. The project included a complex and diverse group of users from two different institutions, and 7 different faculties. Each of the groups had requirements for small individual “lounges” within their faculty space. Through facilitations of group sessions, we were able to identify a valuable synergy which resulted in all parties “pooling” their lounge space and creating a 2500 sf common lounge shared by all building inhabitants. This has become a very popular place where ideas are exchanged between users.
